Este tópico discutirá os códigos ASCII e como escrever um programa para imprimir uma tabela ASCII na linguagem de programação C. ASCII significa Código Padrão Americano para Intercâmbio de Informações . O código ASCII é um esquema de codificação de caracteres usado para definir o valor dos elementos básicos dos caracteres para troca de informações em computadores e outros dispositivos eletrônicos.
Além disso, o código ASCII é uma coleção de 255 símbolos no conjunto de caracteres, divididos em duas partes, o código ASCII padrão e o código ASCII estendido. O código ASCII padrão varia de 0 a 127, com 7 bits de comprimento, e o código ASCII estendido de 128 a 255 tem 8 bits de comprimento. Esses caracteres são uma combinação de letras simbólicas (maiúsculas e minúsculas (a-z, AZ), dígitos (0-9), caracteres especiais (!, @, #, $, etc.), sinais de pontuação e caracteres de controle.
