Algoritmo de Stein ou algoritmo GCD binário é um algoritmo que calcula o máximo divisor comum de dois inteiros não negativos. O algoritmo de Stein substitui a divisão por comparações e subtrações de deslocamentos aritméticos.
Exemplos:
Entrada : uma = 17 b = 34
Saída : 17
Entrada : uma = 50 b = 49
Saída : 1
Algoritmo para encontrar GCD usando o algoritmo de Stein gcd(a b)
O algoritmo é principalmente uma otimização sobre o padrão Algoritmo Euclidiano para GCD
- Se a e b forem 0 mdc é zero mdc(0 0) = 0.
- mdc(a 0) = a e mdc(0 b) = b porque tudo divide 0.
- Se a e b são pares mdc(a b) = 2*mdc(a/2 b/2) porque 2 é um divisor comum. A multiplicação por 2 pode ser feita com o operador bit a bit.
- Se a é par e b é ímpar mdc(a b) = mdc(a/2 b). Da mesma forma, se a é ímpar e b é par, então
mdc(a b) = mdc(a b/2). É porque 2 não é um divisor comum. - Se aeb forem ímpares então mdc(a b) = mdc(|a-b|/2 b). Observe que a diferença de dois números ímpares é par
- Repita as etapas 3–5 até a = b ou até a = 0. Em ambos os casos, o MDC é potência(2 k) * b onde potência(2 k) é 2 elevado à potência de k e k é o número de fatores comuns de 2 encontrados na etapa 3.
